Abstract

O. Henry is famous for his short stories, which reveal human nature, the psyche and the realities in the lives of his characters through irony and sarcasm. His narrative style often includes unexpected twists, ironic conversations and bitter laughter, all of which contribute to constantly maintaining the impact of the writer's stories. Translating his stories into various languages without losing the essence of their content is considered one of the main aims of every translator. However, many mistakes have also been made in translating his stories. This article sets out the mistakes made when O. Henry's story "After twenty years" was translated into Uzbek.
