PROCEDURE FOR RECOGNITION OF CITIZENSHIP OF UZBEKISTAN

Abstract
Today, every state makes every effort to occupy a worthy place in the world community and to ensure a decent standard of living for its people, and, adhering to the principle of equal rights, to ensure their peaceful and prosperous life. In recent years, a number of positive efforts are being carried out in this regard in our country as well. In particular, a number of positive changes are being implemented regarding the acquisition of citizenship of Uzbekistan by stateless persons permanently residing in the Republic of Uzbekistan. Whereas from 1991 to the present day 23 720 stateless persons have been admitted to citizenship of Uzbekistan, from 2020 to the present day, within a short period of time, 47 157 persons have been recognized as citizens of Uzbekistan. This article discusses the new edition of the Law “On Citizenship of the Republic of Uzbekistan”, Decree No. PF-6185 of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On establishing an updated procedure for considering issues related to citizenship of the Republic of Uzbekistan”, and the procedure for recognition of citizenship.
