LAMINECTOMY WITH DECOMPRESSION AND POSTERIOR STABILIZATION IN ASIA B SPINAL CORD INJURY SECONDARY TO GRADE II SPONDYLOLISTHESIS

Abstract
Introduction. Spinal cord injury (SCI) is one of the most severe forms of damage to the central nervous system, often leading to persistent disability. Aim. To present a clinical case of the surgical treatment of ASIA B spinal cord injury secondary to grade II traumatic spondylolisthesis. Case description. A 40-year-old patient was admitted with tetraparesis and sensory and autonomic disorders after a fall from a height. CT and radiography revealed grade II C5–C6 spondylolisthesis, comminuted fractures of the vertebral bodies and compression of the spinal cord. The patient underwent decompressive laminectomy with posterior instrumented stabilisation. Conclusion. Surgical decompression and stabilisation of the spine are the key methods of treatment for patients with traumatic spondylolisthesis complicated by spinal cord injury.
