THE BIOLOGICAL AND CLINICAL SIGNIFICANCE OF FLUORINE IN THE PREVENTION OF DENTAL CARIES: A STATISTICAL ANALYSIS

Abstract
Dental caries is one of the most widespread dental diseases in humanity, and its development is connected with multifactorial biological and environmental factors. This scientific article provides a theoretical analysis of the biological and clinical significance of fluorine in the prevention of dental caries. It describes the effect of fluorine on the structure of the hard tissues of the tooth - enamel and dentine - its role in mineral metabolism, and the mechanisms by which it enters the organism through the hydrological environment. On the basis of epidemiological and statistical studies, the article evaluates the influence of fluorine concentration on the prevalence of dental caries. In addition, the relationship between the fluorine content of drinking water and the intensity of caries is analysed on the basis of the scientific literature. The theoretical and statistical data obtained show that the use of fluorine in optimal amounts is an important preventive factor in preventing dental caries.
