ONOMASTICS IN MUQIMIY'S WORK "SAYOHATNOMA"

Abstract

Muqimiy is a major representative of our national literature and one of the leading figures of the Kokand literary milieu. This article discusses the onomastics of places and names in "Sayohatnoma", one of Muqimiy's famous works. Toponyms are the names given to places and territories. A great many toponyms occur in this "Sayohatnoma" of Muqimiy. He collected these toponyms while travelling through the Fergana Valley and, bringing them together, wrote this work. Muqimiy's "Sayohatnoma" gives us a great opportunity to learn about the onomastics of Uzbek villages of the 20th century.
