Abstract
The article examines the relevance of improving the methodological training of physical education teachers and of developing social and personal competence as a scientific and pedagogical problem. The views of foreign and domestic researchers are generalised. The principles and the theoretical and pedagogical aspects of the professional development of physical education teachers are scientifically substantiated.
