COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS OF CLINICAL, NEUROSONOGRAPHIC AND TOMOGRAPHIC DATA IN CEREBROSPINAL FLUID DYNAMIC DISORDERS IN CHILDREN

Abstract
The aim of the study was to carry out a comparative analysis of the clinical manifestations, the neurosonography data and the results of computed/magnetic resonance tomography in cerebrospinal fluid dynamic disorders in children in order to improve diagnosis and the prediction of the course of the disease. The work included children of different ages with suspected disturbances of cerebrospinal fluid outflow - from hydrocephalus to intracranial hypertension of various aetiologies. A systematic assessment of the clinical picture (neurological status, neurodevelopment, complaints), ultrasound examinations of the brain (neurosonography) and CT/MRI were performed to evaluate morphological changes, the degree of dilatation of the ventricular system, and signs of atrophy or focal pathology. A comparative analysis of the concordances and discrepancies between the methods was carried out; typical correlations between the severity of the clinical symptoms and the degree of ventriculomegaly were revealed, as well as cases in which functional disturbances were detected earlier than morphological changes. The advantages and limitations of neurosonography as a screening method in infants and the role of tomography in detailed anatomical mapping before surgical intervention are discussed. Practical recommendations are made on the algorithm for examining children with suspected cerebrospinal fluid dynamic disorders and on determining the indications for further observation or treatment.
