THE FOLK COLORIST IN THE SHORT STORIES OF ZAHID KHALIL
Main Article Content
Abstract
In written literature, various genre samples are created on the basis of an ordinary narrative and an anecdote, and they also exert a positive influence on the formation of other genres. For example, the novellas created in the 14th century played a positive role in the development of Italian prose. After these novellas reached the limit of their independent development, they moved on to France, England and Spain. The narratives and tales circulating in the languages were gradually refined, the literary experience and the aesthetic views of that people developed, and on this basis new genres were created - tales, stories and so on. Sometimes these prose works feed on folk narratives and combine with real, realistic events, revolve around a person, and this characteristic personality gradually turns into a hero. Thus Bernoldo in Italian folklore, Pedro Urdemalas in Spanish folklore and Pil Ulenspiegel in German folklore were born. Zahid Khalil, who made a great contribution to the development of Azerbaijani children's prose, sought the source for the creation of Azerbaijani prose primarily in the creation of folklore, in the general development of our national literature which has a long-standing and rich heritage in social life, in life itself. Zahid Khalil wrote original tales and stories using Azerbaijani folklore, which preserves national moral values. The works written by the artist for children are divided into two parts: tales and stories. The artist proved himself an innovative artist in his stories written in an original style. The writer further developed his writerly imagination by using folklore in these stories as well as in his works in other genres. The object of research in the article are the stories of the Azerbaijani children's prose writer Zahid Khalil collected in the book "The Smallest Tales of the World". The original and simple style of the artist and the inimitable features of unusual fairy-tale characters are revealed in such of his stories as "The Hat", "Buddy", "The Cookie Girl" and others.
