Abstract

This article examines the latest changes taking place in recent years in the world energy system and market, together with their social, economic, political and ecological impacts. It also covers the types of conventional and non-conventional energy sources, their indicators of change over the last few years, and the causes and results of those changes. The demand for renewable energy sources and the effect of changes in it on the social, economic and political spheres are considered, as is the impact on ecology and the environment of the greenhouse gas effect that is growing on account of conventional energy sources, production activities and other factors emitting harmful gases.
