Abstract
Renewable energy sources (RES) play an increasingly important role in the global energy system. Over the past three years a significant growth in the use of RES has been observed, which is driven by the need to reduce carbon emissions, to enhance energy security and to reduce dependence on fossil fuels. This article examines the current state and development of RES, a comparison with traditional energy sources, as well as the prospects for the future.
