“LOST GENERATION” LITERATURE: HISTORICAL GENESIS, LITERARY CLASSIFICATION AND POETIC FEATURES

Abstract
This article analyzes the “Lost Generation” literary movement that emerged in the first third of the 20th century in American and Western European literature, examining its historical genesis, various scholarly interpretations, the works of its major representatives, and its poetic characteristics. The article investigates the history of the term's origin, its introduction into literary discourse by G. Stein and E. Hemingway, as well as scientific interpretations in Russian, Soviet, and foreign literary scholarship. Several variations of “Lost Generation” literature are identified and analyzed through the works of E.M. Remarque, R. Aldington, E. Hemingway, F.S. Fitzgerald, W. Faulkner, V. Woolf, and D.H. Lawrence.
