Abstract

This paper examines the major thermal-hydraulic problems in nuclear reactors including heat generation, hydraulic behavior of the coolant flow, two-phase flow regimes, critical heat flux conditions, and pressure losses. The study applies theoretical equations, simplified engineering calculations, and analytical interpretation to evaluate the relationship between heat transfer performance and hydraulic resistance. The results indicate that safe reactor operation requires coordinated control of thermal load, coolant mass flow rate, Reynolds number, Nusselt criterion, and critical heat flux limits. The research also demonstrates that optimized flow conditions, advanced monitoring systems, and modern computational methods play a decisive role in reducing thermal-hydraulic risks and improving the operational safety of nuclear power systems.
