COGNITIVE REHABILITATION AFTER NEUROSURGICAL TREATMENT OF PRIMARY BRAIN TUMORS: CLINICAL LIMITATIONS AND PRACTICAL PROSPECTS OF DIGITAL TECHNOLOGIES
Main Article Content
Abstract
Cognitive impairments are a frequent and clinically significant consequence of the neurosurgical treatment of primary brain tumors, especially in patients with meningiomas and low-grade gliomas. Despite a satisfactory oncological and neurological prognosis, many patients in the late postoperative period face cognitive fatigue, reduced attention, disorders of executive functions and difficulties of professional reintegration. In recent years, the use of digital and eHealth technologies in cognitive rehabilitation, potentially expanding access to specialized care, has attracted growing interest. The present work is devoted to a clinical analysis of the effectiveness and the limitations of the early application of eHealth programs of cognitive rehabilitation after the neurosurgical treatment of primary brain tumors. On the basis of clinical research data and the authors' own observations, the particularities of patient selection, the temporal aspects of the start of rehabilitation, the differences between objective and subjective cognitive indicators, as well as the practical limitations of introducing digital interventions in the conditions of a neurosurgical inpatient department are discussed. A conclusion is drawn on the expediency of a differentiated, patient-oriented approach to cognitive rehabilitation that takes into account the clinical context and the individual needs of the patient.
