Abstract

In order to expand the possibilities of transferring the genes of resistance to the cotton bollworm and to glyphosate into local cotton varieties through the application of Bacillus thuringiensis (Bt) technology at the Navoi Scientific-Experimental Station, backcrossing work was carried out on the F1 hybrids obtained by crossing the Chinese cotton variety XLZ-52 with the new local cotton varieties S-01, Sharofat, SP-0655, SP-03, Sulton, S-6577, S-6601, S-8292, SP-0656, SP-04 and Bukhara-8. In order to transfer the double Bt genes of bollworm resistance (CRY1AC and CRY2AB) and the gene of herbicide resistance (4EPSPS) into local cotton varieties, the results of the backcrossing carried out on the F1 hybrids obtained by crossing the foreign cotton variety XinLuZao-52 with a total of 11 local varieties, the yield indicators and the effectiveness of the valuable economic traits were studied. The results showed that the XLZ-52 variety possesses a high combining ability in hybridization and can be used as a promising genetic resource in the production of high-quality fibre.
