THE FUNCTIONING OF SYNTACTIC MEANS OF COHESION IN THE IDIOSTYLE OF F.M. DOSTOEVSKY (BASED ON THE NOVELS “CRIME AND PUNISHMENT” AND “THE BROTHERS KARAMAZOV”).

Abstract

The article is devoted to the study of the syntactic mechanisms that ensure the cohesion (connectedness) of the text in the idiostyle of F. M. Dostoevsky. On the material of the novels "Crime and Punishment" and "The Brothers Karamazov", such means as syntactic parallelism, parcellation, parenthetical constructions and specific connective conjunctions are analysed. The author substantiates that syntactic cohesion in Dostoevsky not only performs a structural function but also serves as an instrument for conveying psychological tension and the "polyphony" of voices.
