THE BOTANICAL GARDEN AS THE CORE OF THE GREEN SYSTEM OF MODERN TASHKENT

Abstract

The article examines the concept of forming a radial-ring green system of the city of Tashkent, at the centre of which is the Botanical Garden as the core of the «landscape wheel». The main attention is paid to the role of the garden in forming a sustainable ecological framework that unites natural, recreational and urban spaces. A spatial model is proposed in which green axes radiate from the Botanical Garden along existing streets, canals and roads, while at the intersections of these axes nodes are formed — parks, public gardens and green squares. Such a system contributes to the improvement of the microclimate, an increase in biological diversity and an improvement in the quality of the urban environment.
