PAREMIOLOGICAL MEANINGS EXPRESSED THROUGH ANIMAL NAMES IN THE ENGLISH AND UZBEK LANGUAGES

Abstract
This article examines the paremiological meanings expressed through animal names in the English and Uzbek languages on the basis of philological, linguocultural and comparative approaches. In the course of the research, the semantic, iconic and metaphorical features of animal names and their connection with national mentality and culture are analysed. The systems of positive and negative evaluation formed through animal names in English and Uzbek paremiology are studied, and universal as well as culturally specific symbols are identified. The results of the research are of theoretical and practical importance for paremiology, linguoculturology and comparative linguistics.
