“CUNNING IN KHORASAN”: HISTORICAL NARRATIVE, NATIONAL IDENTITY AND THE ARTISTIC EXPRESSION OF CUNNING

Abstract
This article analyses Khalilullah Khalili's work "Cunning in Khorasan" against the background of the socio-political crisis in Afghanistan at the beginning of the 20th century. The work is written in the genre of the historical novel (novella) and covers the events of the overthrow of the last monarchy in Afghanistan and the period of the rule of Habibullah Kalakani (Bacha-i Saqqao). The analysis is conducted from the point of view of the artistic embodiment of the concept of heroism (cunning), its interrelation with historicity and its role in conveying humanistic ideas.
