CHEMOPROPHYLAXIS OF SAPROLEGNIOSIS IN FISH

Abstract
This article describes that a fish farming enterprise is a profitable business, but that the greatest of the risks threatening its profitability is the occurrence of diseases on fish farms. On the basis of the literature and of research, the article provides information showing that saprolegniasis occupies an important place among these diseases, that it is caused by fungi belonging to the genus Saprolegnia, and that it is usually a secondary infection which develops when the fish's immune system is weakened, that is, as a result of poor management practices, low-quality water, sharp changes in temperature or injuries to the body of the fish.
