Abstract
The Jerusalem artichoke was brought to Europe in 1627, first to France and from there to Italy, Holland and other countries. In Russia the Jerusalem artichoke appeared in the 18th century, where people used it as a medicinal plant, and an infusion of its tubers in wine was used to treat cardio-respiratory diseases.
