Abstract
This scientific work is devoted to the issues of improving the system of selecting young handball players in sports schools and of their physical training, as well as of modernising it on the basis of modern requirements. It sets out theoretical and practical approaches to identifying young athletes, assessing their sporting potential, developing selection criteria and introducing effective methods of physical training.
