IMPROVING THE TECHNICAL AND TACTICAL ASPECTS OF STRUMECTOMY IN THE SURGICAL TREATMENT OF GOITER

Abstract
To date, in performing surgical access to the thyroid gland, Kocher's collar incision is used in most cases. This approach ensures the creation of a wide operative field, but it is highly traumatic and gives a poor cosmetic result. Over the last 10-15 years various access options have become available through the anterior surface of the neck and along axillary, anterior chest, periareolar, posterior and transoral lines, including minimally invasive robot-assisted approaches. Proceeding from these problems, among 112 patients operated on for goitre, the use of an improved retractor in the patients of the main group significantly increased the rate of positive outcomes compared with the patients of the comparison group.
