Abstract

This article discusses independent study in the European ECTS credit-module system and the guiding activity of the teacher in it; it considers the importance, the aim and the tasks of independent study, the place of independent study in developing students' knowledge, skills and competences in the subject, self-development through independent study, the consolidation of the knowledge acquired in the classroom through carrying out independent work, and the guidance of the teacher in performing these activities.
