HISTORICAL AND MODERN ASPECTS OF THE STUDY AND PROTECTION OF THE ENDEMIC FLORA OF THE FERGANA VALLEY

Abstract
The Fergana Valley is a unique region of Central Asia, rich in rare and endemic plant species. The article presents the results of studies of the flora of the Kurama Range, the Chust adyrs and the adjacent territories, with an emphasis on the families Apiaceae and Lamiaceae. Particular attention is paid to endemic species such as Dorema microcarpum, Mogoltavia sewerzowii, Ferula ferganensis and Lagochilus pubescens, to their ecology, geographical distribution and the threats they face. The study used the herbarium materials of the Central Herbarium of the Institute of the Gene Pool of Plants and Animals of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan (TASH), the mapping of ranges with the use of GIS, as well as data from the field collections of 2012.
